American Girl Snowboarding Outfit
I missed the Journey Girls snowboarding outfit by a few
years. So when I saw the American Girl
one I was pretty excited! This is the
second outfit that I have bought for the Journey Girls that is made by American
girl. American Girl outfits are a bit
more expensive than Journey Girl outfits.
They are also made better, and usually come with more accessories. This outfit is no different.
Like many of the American Girl sets, this is actually two
sets. The one is the outfit itself. The second is the snowboard and
accessories. The outfit comes with a
brightly colored, pinwheel patterned, puffy jacket with a hood; green, puffy
mittens, tan snow pants, and blue socks.
No boots. They come with the
snowboard…but I am not sure why they don’t come with the outfit, since that
would seem to make more sense. I’m sure
it has something to do with cost.
The outfit…minus boots |
The snowboard and accessories…including boots. |
This outfit screams snowboarder. It has funky colors, a crazy design, and is a
little baggy (probably not that baggy on an American Girl doll). It’s great.
Very well made. The snow pants
even have a little pocket. Speaking of
the snow pants…they are big!
Okay…huge! There is probably an
inch gap. The good thing is they stay up
when the jacket is on. Plus it’s in
fashion to have your snow pants dropped down low. If Meredith puts on pants underneath the snow
pants they stay up even better.
The snow pants are big…but the stay up. |
The jacket has a fleece lining, making it feel heavy and
more substantial. Plus it makes it feel
more real. American Girls is good about
making outfits that are made for dolls, but could be worn by people. The jacket Velcro’s up the front for a nice
fit. The jacket is a little big, but
with a shirt on it fits perfectly. And
as I mentioned before, the jacket looks right being a little big.
Awesome outfit! Meredith's feet are going to be cold in the snow though! |
The snowboard comes with the boots, a helmet, and
goggles. I love theses boots. They have white soles, with pink rubber toes,
a canvas, off white boot, and pink trim at the top. The laces are enclosed pink, stretch
laces. They fit really well on Meredith
and were easy to get on and off.
The snowboard is a dark pink color with pink and green
accent strips. It’s girly, but not super
girly. And the colors match the
snowboard outfit. It’s made out of a
thicker, firm plastic. The blue bindings
are step in type with a heal back.
Meredith’s booted feet slip in toe first and then the strap is flipped
up to hold her foot in. I would have
loved to see a strap across the top of the foot also, but this does the job
well for the dolls. It keeps Meredith’s
feet attached to the board and makes it so that she can carve.
The helmet has a ridge to help the goggles stay in place as well as a snap at the back to hold them. |
The helmet is big and heavy.
It makes Meredith extremely top heavy.
It feels like there are two layers of plastic in it. It would be nice it could have been a little
lighter. The helmet is made really well,
with a snap in chin strap, and a snap on the back of the helmet to hold the
goggles on. The helmet is the dark pink
color that the board is along with blue and cream, so that it matches the
outfit. The goggles have a nice elastic
band that makes them easy to put on.
They fit on Meredith’s face perfectly.
I think she looks really cute with them on.

Rating
All ratings are out of 10
Value 7 – It is
difficult to rate this outfit/accessories.
It is really two different sets; the outfit and the snowboard. But they should be sold together…especially
since the snowboard outfit does not have boots!
Plus these are expensive! $34 for the outfit and $40 for the snowboard. Yikes! If you are lucky you can find them on sale
(like I did), if not you are paying a pretty penny. Don’t get me wrong, both are very high
quality and probably warrant the money.
I just think that together these should be around $50 or so.
Fitment 7 – Everything fits great, except the snow pants. Although it is all the rage today to have
your pants hanging off your rump. Meredith
just isn’t that into that. The jacket
fits great. As does the helmet, goggles,
mittens, and boots. I do wish that the
helmet wasn’t so heavy.
Versatility 8 – Because
the sets come with a lot of parts there is a good amount of versatility. All of the versatility will be winter
oriented, but there is still versatility.
Boots, mittens, pants, jacket, and goggles can all be used with
different outfits.
Cuteness 9 – I really like the style of this outfit. I think it captures the style of most
snowboarders, while still being cute. I
like the colors (much more than the purples and blues of this year)
Overall 7 – The main
reason I scored the sets this way is the cost.
It is an expensive set that has some strange accessories missing. Why the boots don’t come with the outfit is
strange. It is nice that Meredith gets
socks though. The quality on these sets
are top notch…I just wish the sale price was the regular price.
Meredith is ready to shred! |
Like all American Girl outfits this one is expensive
(especially compared to the Journey Girls and Our Generation). But in this case I think the money is well
worth it. If you are looking for a great
snowboarding outfit and snowboard, these sets are the way to go.

great review, I agree about the boots, I have the outfit and it is disappointing that there was no boots.
Very interesting that the boots don't come with the jacket set. I noticed online that they did the same thing with the ski set..the boots only come with the skis! Smart marketing by AG of course, to get people to buy both! This set looks really, really cute, especially for photographing out in the snow and it is so realistic looking that I can see it could be a great collector item even just to document the style of winter wear that is currently popular right now. Nice review! I'm looking forward to some outdoor photoshoots! ;)
I guess they figure most people are going to buy both...but it would still be nice if the boots came with the outfit. Especially since it is so hard to find winter boots.
Yeah, I noticed that too. Bummer. I really like the colors of this set. The new sets are all the blue and pink ( just like the Journey Girl accessories this year) which I don't like as much. This is a super fun set to photograph. One of the other girls may borrow it!
